1. Summer marine wildlife-safari
Seal-Bird-Whale-Safari
From May-September, we offer 4 hrs safaris in our 7,3m Zodiac Rubberboat. Guided by a biologist, we will look for whales, seals, and birds in the Vestfjord.
Experience - hear, see, smell, and feel - the arctic marine life of Lofoten! A biologist will explain life in the sea and will guide you through different places in the sea around Henningsvaer.
You can be part of an Ocean Sounds research project to monitor the abundance and health of animals around Henningsvaer.
During this 4 hrs excursion, you will first hear a short (35 min) lecture about the animals and nature of Lofoten.
Then we will take you with our Zodiac Rubberboat to different places to observe the marine wildlife.
We often see grey seals, harbour porpoises (if the sea is flat), minke whales, Atlantic white sided dolphins and sometimes even pilot whales.
We always encounter different birds e.g. white tailed sea eagle, eider ducks, terns, golden eagles, auks (sometimes puffins) up to 7 different species of seagulls, etc.) and more…
You can watch the underwater life through our underwater binoculars, and we can explain you life in the sea.
800 NOK / person (25% goes directly to research), minimum 4, maximum 10 people, age 5 or older.
Suits are included. We have children and student reductions (600 NOK).
Weather permitting, we offer this safari every day in June-July
10:00-14:00 and 17:00-21:00 o’clock at the Science Center.
Please book at least 2 days in advance.
2. art courses (2010):
Day courses with or without the combination of marine wildlife safaris.
We offer special courses in which you can learn how to do nature drawing and painting & sculpture nature objects with the German artist Anke Gruss.
These courses will available at the Ocean Sounds Science Center in summer 2010.
The whole course lasts between 4-5 hours and costs 800 NOK (without safari), or 1300 NOK (with safari).
We start every day at 10:00 at the Science Center.
We can arrange special group tours with a maximum of 10 people.
